More appointments!

After reviewing the amount of appointments we offer and recruiting two new Advanced Nurse Practitioners, St Peters Surgery are now offering more appointment availability per week. To find out more, feel free to attend our next Patient Participation Group in March.

We now have a SMS messaging service for patient appointment reminders.  If you wish to receive messages please contact the reception with an up to date mobile number.  alternatively you can download the smart app to your phone Mjog Messenger for health and fitness.  If you wish to opt out then please inform a member of the reception team.

Please note you will be offered an option as part of the reminder to cancel your appointment by texting back the word Cancel.  This is an automated service so please ensure you type only the word CANCEL for this service to work.

Please tell us what you think of the service you received when visiting the Practice - See the on-line Family and Friends Test button on the home page of this website.

Patients who repeatedly fail to attend appointments they have made are being sent warning letters. Patients who continue to waste appointments after a warning may be removed from the patient list.

We are continuing with our drive to improve telephone access.  To reduce the demand on the telephone patients can use the "Online" Services detailed on this website.

When the surgery is closed there will be a recorded message giving clear instructions on how to contact the “Out of Hours” Service or, if the surgery is closed for training during normal hours, how to contact a doctor.  For “Out of Hours” Service - Telephone 111

If the Surgery is closed for training -

Telephone 01922 501999

Home Visits

Home visits should only be requested when you are too ill to attend the surgery. Please attend the surgery for a consultation whenever possible. Should a visit be necessary please ring the surgery before 11.30am as this helps the doctors to plan their rounds, only urgent requests should be made after this time

Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend your appointment at St. Peter's Surgery, please give 24 hours notice by telephone or by using the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment.

What is the Friends and Family Test?

Since the 1st December 2014 it has been a contractual requirement that all GP Practices provide patients with access to the NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT). The FFT is an anonymous feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS Services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience that can be used to improve services.

The primary aims of the FFT are to:

  • gather useful feedback from people who use services that can be fed directly to staff that provide their care, in a simple format, in near real time
  • identify areas where improvements can be made so practical action can be taken
  • inform current and prospective patients about the experiences of those who use the practice services

Good patient experience is associated with improved patient outcomes. Various studies have shown positive associations between patient experience, patient safety and clinical effectiveness. It is therefore important that the NHS collects regular feedback from patients and takes action to address any areas of poor patient experience.

The results of the FFT are published so that patients and members of the public can see how their local services are viewed by those who have used them. The results can provide a broad measure of patient experience that can be used alongside other data to inform patient choice.

To give feedback on the service received from St. Peter's Surgery you can access the friends and family test on-line, using the button below, print off the attached leaflet or complete a FFT card when you next visit the Practice.
